Having previously reviewed all the models in our Apex flagship series - most recently Apex USB - we are delighted for Editor Fernando Andrette to be the first to review Apex Ethernet as its world premiere, and evaluate this last part of the Apex jigsaw puzzle!
"In relation to my current reference, Transparent, it has better background silence, greater soundstage amplitude in three dimensions, better decay in the highs, allowing for safer observation of the rooms used in the recordings (with and without the use of digital reverb), a more precise focus and definition that improves the perception of organicity and, what I admired most: a larger and more realistic harmonic body. The addition of the Dynamique Apex Ethernet further improved the Nagra Streamer, and enabled something that is essential for me: the ability to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the technical quality of the recordings. What Apex Ethernet does best is smooth out the remaining rough edges in streaming and enable the extraction of the maximum potential that the network topology used by this service currently has to offer."

It was back in 2019 that Hi-Fi Voice Editor Daniel Brezina first heard our Horizon 2 cables. He loved their quality and they ended up as Product of the Year 2020. Now almost 6 years later, he reviews the newest and most affordable addition to the Dynamique family; Neo 2, and Daniel had some great things to say about them. He sums the review as follows:

When the title track from Leela James's album "See Me" is played, the song begins with a unique sound effect where the soundstage oscillates left and right, but the vocals are positioned perfectly in the center. "The Shadow 2 USB has an excellent tonal balance, without emphasizing any part of the audible spectrum. Precise, incisive bass with excellent energy and air displacement. "And the performance? I would say it’s kind of out of my current streamer league, which is called Innuos ZENmini Mk3. Because when you place a cable with this degree of neutrality, on a good level streamer, but below the cable’s potential, all the limitations of your streamer will become absolutely explicit! With it, bad recordings show in detail what made them bad or technically limited. On the other hand, the good ones gain vitality... as more audiophiles experience and hear the beneits of neutral wiring in well-tuned systems, I guarantee they won’t go back. Because they will realize that they have freed themselves from the trap of trying to solve with cables what their systems have not solved, what they have that is deficient... If you’ve invested a lot in your streamer and consider it a superlative product, connect it with a Dynamique Audio Apex USB. It will make an accurate sound ‘x-ray’ of what level your streamer/ DAC setup is in. Following on from their review last month of Horizon 2, New Audiophile magazine decided to hear its bigger brother; Tempest 2. Once again, a solid technical start to the review as their test report revealed impressively low resistance and capacitance. In their subjective analysis, they noted a very rich, full sound whilst maintaining clean low frequencies without any excess. They commented on a strong analytical quality, very broad soundstage that surpasses Horizon 2, whilst maintaining correct image scale and shape and not exaggerating or providing 'larger than life' imaging. They noted that Tempest 2 was almost completely transparent and neutrally balanced.

After a glowing review of our Shadow 2 speaker cables in 2021, New Audiophile magazine turned their attention to our more affordable Horizon 2 speaker cable, and once again, they were very impressed! They open with a technical analysis in which their findings showed extremely low levels of capacitance - superior to many of our competitors flagship cables! More importantly, their subjective analysis was of a dynamic and natural sound with strong vocal imaging, a quiet background and once again a sense of transparency. They note that Horizon 2 also excelled with choral and orchestral music, present a rich, layered sound.

Having previously been impressed when they reviewed our Halo 2 interconnect and power cables, respected journal Super AV has turned their attention to our Halo 2 speaker cable lineange and reviewed the Halo 2 speaker cable line. The reviewer had nervous expectations that he might hear the dreaded 'cold and bright silver sound'... he was delighted to hear a balanced and full sound, that he described as smooth and pleasant to listen to. He heard a three-dimensional soundstage with vocals locked precisely in place, a good sense of depth and layering of the sound. He then went on to say the following:
"What impressed me most about the Halo 2 speaker cables was their rapid bass extension and transparent quality, especially during the tumultuous interplay of notes from the orchestra and piano. The layering was clear; the piano's rapid chords unveiled Schumann's romanticism, followed by the woodwind theme, echoing the piano. The Halo 2 speaker cables delivered a transparent sound, bringing out the layered interplay between the woodwinds and piano, one in front, one behind, one near, one far, with the woodwinds focused. The piano, full and rich, with its extended mid-to-high frequencies, showcased the music's vibrancy. Listening to some large-scale symphonic music, the Dynamique Audio Halo 2 speaker cables displayed a remarkably large sound, with a wide soundstage and ample volume. Some brass passages exhibited a luminous quality, full sound, and powerful dynamics. Even at high volumes, the high, mid, and low frequencies maintained excellent balance. The bass was powerful, with outstanding dynamics and resolution. It reproduced a vast sense of space and soundstage, with ample energy, a stable and powerful dynamic range, and well-balanced overtones".

"We listened to G.E.M.'s "Light Years Away," a popular song featuring powerful vocals. The Shadow 2 reproduced exceptionally rich vocals, further enhancing the density and fullness of G.E.M.'s voice. In Issue 414 of Audio Art magazine, Cai Chengzhe reviews our affordable Horizon 2 power cable: "Horizon 2's performance is actually top-tier in its price range, excelling in positioning and layering.... Horizon 2 actually offers superior performance in terms of vocal imaging and sound localization. Listening to Carole King's "Tapestry," careful listening reveals more precise positioning of the vocal lip movements and a more focused and clear vocal imaging. Simply put, the Horizon 2 makes vocals and instruments sound more prominent. This performance is most noticeable in the bass range. Listening to "Brandee Younger Somewhere Different," the drum beats may seem somewhat underwhelming at first, but further analysis reveals that this is because they are more focused and restrained, with energy not dissipating outwards. The drum vibrations are also more layered, not just a simple mass of low frequencies. An unexpected delight was the Horizon 2's exceptional performance on slow piano passages. Listening to Keith Jarrett play "Answer Me My Love," a piece often used as an encore ending, the Horizon 2 effectively conveyed the nuances of touch and the lingering, continuous resonance after each strike. In today's cable market, the Dynamique Horizon 2, as Dynamique's entry-level power cable, is a very affordable choice. Following reviews of Apex interonnect, speaker and digital lines, Editor Fernando Andrette turned his attention to our Apex Power cable to hear the full Apex loom and hear what he endearingly termed "The Apex effect" to its fullest effect. Whilst Apex excels at the usual metrics (soundstaging, resolution, timing etc), it was the concept of 'neutrality' that Fernando started to become increasingly fascinated with in our cables. His review of Apex Digital last month cemented these views, and in Issue 291, Fernando has found our Apex Power cable to reinforce these conclusions (translated):

"In 30 years as a critical audio reviewer, I've never heard and tested cables that so vehemently sought to sound neutral as these Dynamique cables. And my admiration only multiplied as I realized that, in Dynamique's most sophisticated cables, the search for neutrality became an example to be followed – if other cable manufacturers ever want to tread this new and so fruitful road."

"I doubt if others will, because this degree of neutrality found in the Zenith 2 and Apex line, are incompatible with a large portion of electronics. And, of course, with a huge legion of audiophiles who are still looking for a 'oiled' sound!"

Following on from his excellent review of our Shadow 2 power cable in Audio Art issue 406, Shadow 2 power featured in a group test of its peers, in which reviewer Hong Ruifeng was reminded of its excellent performance:
"The sonic texture created by Dynamique is truly captivating, completely transporting me back to the time I reviewed their cables. When playing violin pieces, the tone is richer and warmer than before, maintaining a natural high-frequency extension even in higher positions, while possessing a charming thickness—a rare quality. Even with powerful passages that other cables struggle with, this cable seems to have an inherent ease, instantly transforming the strong and direct energy of the violin into a smoother, more pleasing sound. Playing large-scale orchestral pieces, the cable's musical center of gravity is noticeably lower; the low-frequency string sections not only possess a robust quality, but the deeper tone also enhances the woody quality of the violin."

In December 2019, Editor Fernando Andrette reviewed our Apex interconnects and was truly impressed - they were the highest scoring interconnects yet tested and Product of the Year 2019. Fernando was especially interested in the neutrality of the Apex line; further reinforced after reviewing our Apex speaker cables (Product of the Year 2020). An exaggerated tonality is commonplace with cable designers to offer greater dealer showroom 'wow' factor and easy to engineer into a cable, but remain inaccurate. Designing a harmonically complete, tonally neutral cable is far more difficult. In his review of our Apex Digital cable, this is what Fernando found (translated):

"...neutrality brings the most fundamental component: the possibility of full and correct distinction between multiple recordings to a level never before presented...and Dynamique Audio's Apex line of cables is the only one I've heard so far that, when installed in a system that also has that same sonic 'DNA', allows for a degree of neutrality that we haven't experienced before."

"Dynamique's AES/EBU Apex is exceptional for what it doesn't introduce, and what it doesn't do or put on the signal. And this is an element that has two very distinct sides in the composition of a high-performance audio system. For those looking to 'oil' their systems by making the sound more 'seasoned' and with a personal touch, it will never be a desirable option. Now, for those who claim to take the high-fidelity conception to its extreme of possibility, there is no other more interesting and consistent option up to this moment that combines: musicality, naturalness and correctness in this degree of refinement!"

Audio Art reviewer Hong Ruifeng has reviewed our entry-level Horizon 2 interconnects and was charmed by their innately musical performance. He writes:
"Listening to the Horizon 2 was like a tug-of-war with my past perceptions of audio equipment. Rationally, I knew it was a cable bearing Dynamique's subjective impressions, embodying their yearning and understanding of beautiful music. But emotionally, as the listening time progressed, I gradually came to understand and was willing to be convinced by its captivating sonic qualities. I've always believed that if a cable doesn't sound captivating, even the most neutral sound is meaningless. The Horizon 2 is a cable that clearly knows what its ideal musical utopia should look and sound like. Once the goal is set, it pursues it relentlessly; this unwavering dedication is perhaps why listening to it always moves me so deeply!"

"When listening to various genres of music, the Dynamique Audio Shadow 2 digital cable delivers noticeable improvements, and these improvements are not superficial or artificial, thus preserving the original sound... using the Shadow 2 digital cable significantly improved resolution, making subtle sounds in female solos particularly clear. Additionally, a good sense of space and extremely smooth frequency response were noticeable. In female vocal reproduction, the Shadow 2 sounded very natural, unlike other digital cables that excessively amplified the vocals to create a high-end sound. In terms of analytical power, it's a significant improvement over the original cable, reducing the diaphragm effect and enhancing clarity. One of the most noticeable advantages of this digital cable is its spaciousness. The Shadow 2 makes music more enjoyable and comfortable, enhancing not only the sound of any instrument but also the vocals. The works of Romantic composer Franz Liszt are generally considered quite challenging in the music world. Listening to it with the Shadow 2 digital cable, the continuous arpeggios revealed a deeper, gentler, and more stable bass, making the wave-like musical structure even more substantial."

Having previously published a very complimentary review of  our Zenith 2 speaker cables, Audio Art magazine turned to our flagship Apex range and reviewed the Apex interconnects in RCA format. Sometimes when a reviewer runs our of superlatives to describe a sound, it becomes necessary to describe by analogy. The reviewer describes the sound of Apex very aptly:

Liao Phisen from Hi-AV magazine has reviewed Horizon 2 at the more affordable end of our range, and Celestial 2 as part of our reference series, testing the cables in unison on both audio and video equipment. Liao first auditioned the cables in his audio system and heard the spaciousness of the soundstage to expand significantly, with clearer vocals and greater definition across the board, alongside tighter, more cohesive low-frequencies. He noted that the sound overall was more vibrant, likening the upgrade to the improvements hi-res music brings over standard CD. When he removed the Dynamique cables from his system, the sound became less gripping. In his video reference system, the cables enhanced brightness, contrast colour levels in both shadows and highlights. Last month, Super AV Magazine China reviewed our Horizon 2 interconnects and praised their transparency, their vibrant and natural balance, along with their 'dramatic and powerful' sound signature. This month they review an entire Tempest 2 loom (Interconnect, Speaker, Power). They summarised the review saying:
